Of this edition 1500 copies have been printed in Lyon by count Giuseppe Govone (1885-1948, art publisher and husband of Mariette Lydis in 1934) ont the presses of Audin & Cie, the illustrations, printed in Paris by F. Mourlot, being original lithographs by Mariette Lydis (1887-1970). Our copy has number 1469 and is signed by the artist. 122 pages + 15 plates, full page, listed. The Beggard's Opera was first performed in 1728, and ran for 62 nights. Nearly 200 years later it was presented by Sir Nigel Playfair at the Lyric Theater in Hammersmith and ran for three and a half years (June5, 1920 to Dec 17, 1923).
