A Beginner's Guide to Genealogy 2.0: Using the Internet, DNA, and Online Databases to Trace Your Family History

This guide is primarily aimed at beginners in genealogy. Its goal is to guide the reader step-by-step in building their family tree using digital tools. The book is structured progressively:

• The first chapters cover the basic principles for creating a clear and long-term usable family tree, with a focus on methodology from the start.
• A section is dedicated to the main genealogy software. Without recommending a specific tool, the book explains their general functionality and usefulness, particularly in a collaborative context.
• A focus is placed on the new possibilities offered by the Internet for genealogical research. Many records and administrative documents are now accessible online, greatly facilitating work that previously required travel or time-consuming correspondence.
• An entire chapter deals with the contribution of DNA tests to genealogy. The author discusses both the advantages and risks of this technology, as well as the complexity of interpreting some results (such as the percentage of shared DNA between two individuals).

The overall goal is to provide the reader with all the necessary tools to embark on genealogy in an informed way, making full use of the available digital resources.
