Beginning and Intermediate Algebra: An Integrated Approach, 2nd

This combined beginning and intermediate algebra text is ideal for those professors who want to eliminate the large amount of redundant material often found in separate beginning and intermediate textbooks. Authors R. David Gustafson and Peter D. Frisk emphasize conceptual understanding and problem solving with the use of real-life applications. Critical thinking is developed through writing exercises and projects. As with other texts in the authors' highly-successful algebra series, this combined book motivates mathematical concepts by need and illustrates them through discussion, examples, and real-world applications. Improvements to this edition have been made in line with NCTM standards, the AMATYC Crossroads, and the current trends in mathematics reform (for example, more emphasis is placed on graphing and problem solving).
