What does that word conjure for you?

Neighborhoods and streets are named Eden. There are

entire sections of libraries and museums dedicated to

Eden's meaning and impact...theological treatises, poems

and novels, plays and reflections, songs and pieces of art...

but so few - if any - stay close enough to the Hebrew to

bring forward anything all that helpful to human life.

Instead, all too many interpretations set us up for war.

Ancient audiences hearing the Eden Story for the first time

moves us into a deadly binary - good vs. evil - and very far

from the all-encompassing Infinite God/Universe.
