Behind the X-Ray: A Radiologist's Journey

"The practice of medicine is an art, not a trade; a calling, not a business; a calling in which your heart will be exercised equally with your head."

-Sir William Osler

Dr. Harold Moskowitz came of age in the 1940’s and 50’s, a time of both great social change and on the cusp of what would become significant medical breakthroughs. Bucking his family’s desire that he become a rabbi, Moskowitz instead chose the field of medicine, devoting as much to his practice as he did his faith.

The results of this life well lived are reflected in the medical breakthroughs he was a part of, the lives touched, enduring friendships, and a beautiful family to be proud of.

This book is so much more than a memoir. It is a thoughtful and wide-ranging exploration of the evolution of medicine, faith, society-altering historic moments and discoveries, and, most importantly, the sanctity of the doctor/patient relationship.

A true exercise of the heart, indeed.
