Being and Making Disciples in the Western Church: A First Steps Guide

In Acts 14, as Paul and Barnabas are planting early churches, their concern was not to make converts, but to make disciples of Jesus. From that day until now, our primary concern as Christians has been to follow Jesus’ command to ‘Go and make disciples.’ But in our Western Churches, we’ve largely gotten away from this command and turned the focus of our lives and our churches onto things God never intended for us to focus on. In this new book resource, Mike Falkenstine will walk you through the steps and stages of being disciples and making disciples in our churches. Jesus has given our churches a very clear call to evangelize and make disciples, but recent research indicates that very few churches have a discernable disciple-making strategy as very few pastors know how to make disciples. Mike will walk church leaders through the process to get to a place where every dollar spent and every decision made at your church passes through a filter that answers the question, ‘How does this enable us to make disciples that make disciples?’

Furthermore, we read in the Bible that God wants all of us personally to be all-in, no holding back, totally in love with Jesus disciples of His Son. In this resource, Mike will walk you through what a disciple of Jesus is and what characteristics a disciple of Jesus displays. Along the way, Mike will give you tips and tricks on how to mature your walk into becoming a fully-devoted disciples of Christ. In Chapter 3, Mike examines the interdependence between the oversight elders bring to helping Christians becoming disciples and how those in the congregations should also be encouraging the leaders at their church to be forming the church into one that has a deep heart for making disciples.
