Ben-Hur is one of the best selling books of all times. This poignant novel intertwines the life stories of a Jewish charioteer named Judah Ben-Hur and Jesus Christ. It explores the themes of betrayal and redemption. Ben-Hur's family is wrongly accused and convicted of treason during the time of Christ. Ben-Hur fights to clear his family's name and is ultimately inspired by the rise of Jesus Christ and his message. A powerful, compelling novel. All of our books are printed to order. About the Author: Lew Wallace (1827-1905), born Lewis Wallace, was an American novelist, lawyer, Union general, politician, diplomat, and one of the most famous literary figures of nineteenth-century America. Born in Indiana, Wallace served in the Mexican-American War and later became a major general in the Union Army during the Civil War. After the war, he held public offices, served as governor of the New Mexico Territory, and was appointed U.S. minister to the Ottoman Empire. His varied career gave him experience in military life, law, politics, diplomacy, and public affairs, all of which helped shape the scale and authority of his fiction.Wallace is remembered above all for Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, first published in 1880. The novel became a massive bestseller and one of the most influential works of Christian historical fiction, inspiring stage productions and multiple film adaptations. Its mixture of ancient-world spectacle, personal revenge, religious awakening, Roman imperial power, and the life of Christ gave it a broad appeal that reached far beyond ordinary adventure fiction. For readers of biblical fiction, classic American novels, Christian literature, historical adventure, and nineteenth-century popular fiction, Wallace remains inseparable from the enduring power of Ben-Hur.
