Unpaginated, c. forty-seven pages, complete. Many black-and-white illustrations, complete. Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning. Covers are clean and intact overall but have light to moderate darkening, slight loosening, and a former owner's black ink stamp on back ("Pond's Pharmacy"). A Very Good copy. Promotional pamphlet for Berkeley, California with a beautiful book design. This pamphlet briefly describes various aspects of Berkeley to promote travel to and settlement in the city. Each subject is treated very briefly in the text. Among the subjects relating to Berkeley that are described herein are the University of California (UC Berkeley), the city's geographic location and accessibility via the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe Railroads, residents' choice of looking upon the scenic hills or waterfront of San Francisco Bay, economy and industries, hotel accommodations, private and public education, the public library, the city's "moral cleanness" (including temperance laws and measures taken to prevent gambling), the city's churches and local YMCA, and healthful climate and weather. Replete with many full-page black-and-white illustrations with brief captions. Among the places or subjects pictured in these illustrations are the First National Bank, Berkeley National Bank, California Institution for the Deaf and the Blind, Boone's University School, St. Joseph's Academy, different views and buildings at University of California, churches, and residences.
