About this Item

Brand New; Brand New 1st Ed collectable. Pages slightly tanned. Usually mail within 12 hours. ; 226 pages; Great, June 15, 2001 Reviewer: A reader from Los Angeles: I thought that this book offered really great insight into the contemporary controversies surrounding obscenity, pornography, comics, repression of lesbian, gay, bi and transgender community, and all limits of free speech. The publication is very liberal which I though was a great advantage. The book offers a few pieces from those on the right wing of the political spectrum, but overall the book sympathizes with extremely liberal peoople. I think the text could have been a little better by including more pieces by feminist authors/activists. Also, some articles on the internet and free speech could have been addressed. Overall though, I thought the book was thought provoking. A few of the topics included are: bullwhips, sex slaves, and catcher and the rye; the arguments against pornography; an interview with art spiegelman; the art of homophobia; san francisco vs. Basic instinct; whoring in utopia; hate and the art of queer media spins; sex, smears, and feminists; pornnography's victims.
