America turns 250 years old this year. While millions of tourists will flood the same old landmarks — Times Square, Disney World, the Vegas Strip — a handful of travellers in the know are quietly discovering something far more extraordinary: the real America. The hidden one. The one most Americans have never even heard of.
If you're tired of over-crowded tourist traps, sky-high prices, and coming home feeling like you didn't really go anywhere — this book was written for you.
These Aren't Just Hidden From Tourists — They're Hidden From Most Americans TooHere's what makes this guide unlike any other: these nine breathtaking destinations aren't just off the radar for overseas visitors. Most Americans have never visited — or even heard of — these places. That means no jostling for photos, no booked-out hotels six months in advance, no feeling like a number on a conveyor belt. Just you, genuinely spectacular scenery, real local culture, and the kind of memories that stay with you for life.
Nine Destinations. Nine Jaw-Dropping Surprises.- Molokai, Hawaii — Hawaii's best-kept secret, virtually untouched by mass tourism, where the spirit of old Hawaii is still very much alive
- Jekyll Island, Georgia — A barrier island of extraordinary beauty, once the exclusive playground of America's wealthiest families, now open to all
- Durango, Colorado — Adventure, history and staggering mountain scenery in one of the Southwest's most charming and underrated towns
- A jaw-dropping historic frontier town nestled deep in the Badlands — where rugged canyon wilderness meets one of America's most extraordinary untold stories
- A mountain valley so spectacular it makes you wonder how the rest of the world hasn't found it yet — America at its most glorious, hiding in plain sight
- Where the Rockies meet crystal-clear lakes and the biggest skies you've ever seen — one of the most breathtaking yet overlooked corners of the entire country
- A sun-drenched coastal town with world-class diving, dolphin encounters, and zero of the chaos of Florida's famous tourist strips
- A rugged, achingly beautiful island on the New England coast, beloved by artists and adventurers who are desperately trying to keep it a secret
- A volcanic wonderland of ancient lava fields, crater lakes, and primeval forests — and one of the least-visited yet most astonishing landscapes in all of America
For each destination, you'll get the top 5 things to do, insider tips from local experts, and exclusive travel discounts worth over $1,000 included free with this book.
Why NOW Is the Perfect Time to Read This BookAs America celebrates its 250th birthday, there has never been a better moment to fall back in love with your own country — not just the famous parts, but the magnificent, surprising, deeply American corners that most people will never find. Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
