The second edition of this collection of articles from Captain Edward Penell-Elmhirst, originally published in 'The Field' magazine, with each article pertaining to hunting and field sports.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, three further colour plates, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.These illustrations are the work of John Sturgess, a hunting and racing artist and lithographer who worked mainly for the Illustrated London News at the time of the publication of this work.With four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear, and the contemporary owner's inscription of Philip Lee Brocklehurst to the front pastedown. Sir Philip Brocklehurst is known for being a member of Ernest Shackleton's Expedition to Antarctica aboard the Nimrod. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Fading to back strip, with bumping to spine head and tail. Boards bright. Front hinge slightly tender, with boards holding firm. Contemporary inscription to front pastedown. Internally. Firmly bound.
