A captivating magical tale set at Diamond Willow Ranch in the pine-forested foothills of the Rocky Mountains takes readers on a journey that transcends time. Elements of present and past combine with good and evil, witchcraft, and ancient demons in this gripping coming of age story.
During a late autumn holiday at Diamond Willow Ranch, Hollis and her brothers find themselves steeped in mystery. It is at the ranch, her grandmother's ancestral home, that Hollis discovers her extraordinary inherited gift, 'Aisling'. Immensely powerful, Aisling grows stronger with each intergenerational transfer, creating a magnetic yet dangerous bridge between this world and the next.
Hollis's thirteenth year marks a significant transition for her, as she befriends Sam, an older boy from another era. Sam, her 'Cepan', reveals himself to be an important protector of Aisling and is eventually revealed to be the time-honoured bestower of H. With All Hallows Eve fast approaching and the veil thinning between the spiritual and the real world, Hollis and her brothers discover that Diamond Willow is alive with witchery and black magic.
Through 'Gramma Nae's' storytelling, they are transported into the past to understand the ranch's rich history - tales of settlers, black magic, and a chilling legacy that connects present to past. As Hollis pieces together the truth, she is drawn deeper into the past and the heart of something far more dangerous than she ever imagined...
