Beyond Career Day: A Success Guide for Middle School Youth

Many young people ask the inner questions of, what would I like to be when I grow up? What type of career or lifestyle do I want? Do I want a house or to drive a fancy car? Many schools across the country have what’s called “Career Day.” Professionals from different industries come and talk about what it’s like to work in a particular career and the steps a student should take to get there. However, once that day is over, what happens? How do we still have the conversation and engagement about the student’s future? Beyond Career Day will help students to continue on the journey of figuring out what they want to do and be as an adult. This book is packed with information and topics like, how to start a business, how to create a winning resume, how to prepare for an interview, how to become financially responsible, how to be a servant leader and the list goes on. Most of all, this interactive book gives the tools to get started on making some dreams a reality and guide the reader with resources to accomplishing their goals.

Ijana Nathaniel is the mother of two amazing children- Nia, her smart and sassy three year old who keeps her smiling and her thirteen old son, Jeremiah, who allows her to hold the title, "Basketball Mom". When she's not taking selfies with Nia or cheering Jeremiah on at one of his basketball games, she is working diligently in her community. She loves working with her students, networking, creating opportunities and helping others follow their dreams and passions. Ijana holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Nyack College. Her areas expertise are curriculum design, workshop implementation, panel discussion, mentoring and public speaking. In 2010, Ijana became the Founder and President of Dare 2 Dream Leaders Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit youth organization based in Brooklyn, NY, serving Middle School and High School students. The organization provides mentoring and educational programs to help youth gain financial, career and entrepreneurial skills. The organization hosts a free annual youth summit for over one hundred Middle and High School students residing in New York City, exposing them to corporate sponsors and business professionals, connecting them to resources and affording them network opportunities with their peers. They also enjoy a great time with the invited entertainment. In 2016, Ijana added the title of Self Published Author to her list of accolades with her highly anticipated book: Dare 2 Dream Leaders Inc., Present Beyond Career Day: A Success Guide for Middle School Youth.
