Getting Beyond the Day - Your Guide to Surviving a Job Layoff

"Tag - you're it" can be heard in virtually all neighborhoods as children play the game Tag. The basic rule to Tag is that one person is designated as "it," and that person runs around trying to touch someone else. If they succeed, the person they touch is now "it." Unannounced, that cheerful, yet competitive children's game seems to be played out in companies throughout the world as individuals experience a job layoff, except they do not play by choice. When we get the tap on the shoulder and are told, "you're it" (i.e., laid off), unlike in the children's game, we cannot start running through the office building attempting to tap a co-worker and announce that they are now "it." We are immediately out of the game and can no longer play with them. The minute a layoff occurs one's workplace status, lifestyle, and household often change for the worst. Your Guide to Surviving a Job Layoff, written with you - the reader - in mind, is a path of empowerment with the resources and tools needed to resume a life that is on track. The book aims to help those who are unemployed and in transition Get Beyond the Day. Each of the interactive chapters is filled with noteworthy suggestions to help readers plan for a stable life regardless of the country's economic state. These tips come from the co-authors' calls to government agencies, from their personal research, and even from their own experiences and hard life-lessons.
