Intended for needleworkers of all levels, it contains detailed, step-by-step instructions for the essential aspects of sewing, from choice of materials to inserting zips, pockets and sleeves. It provides fundamental information on the ease, bias and turn of the cloth; looks at seam allowances and fabric preparation; and examines potential areas of difficulty. The reader is taught to do all of the following: make perfect and identical collar points; sew set-in sleeves by machine; sew double or single welt pockets; make silk buttonholes; and finish edges with narrow bias binding.
