Beyond The Smile

Bombing is easy.
Being honest is the hard part.

Terrance Wolf is a comedy legend who can’t remember how to be funny anymore. One brutal night at The Comedy Store makes it official: the laughs are gone—and a Netflix special worth twenty million dollars is suddenly the most terrifying thing in his life.

Then a young comic catches him backstage: Barry Lamb, the son of Wolf’s late best friend, Jimmy—an unfiltered genius who died before his time. Barry’s raw talent is undeniable… and it drags Wolf straight back into the past he’s been dodging for years.

Mentoring Barry should be simple: teach the kid structure, sharpen the set, send him toward greatness. But the closer Wolf gets to helping Barry find his own voice, the more Wolf risks confronting what he’s buried—about Jimmy, about success, and about the true cost of making people laugh.

Beyond the Smile is a darkly funny, sharply human story about friendship, legacy, and the moment a performer realizes the hardest thing to say onstage might be the truth.
