Der Bezirk Voitsberg

The district of Voitsberg west of the state capital Graz once formed the centre of the mining area in the West Styrian hilly country. In the cities and communities - from Afling to Kainach and Köflach to Voitsberg - tradition and innovation are combined. Traditional traditions are maintained as well as the historical village centres, which have many special features and sights.


Over 220 previously largely unpublished photographs show not only the change of place images, but above all the everyday life of people at work and in leisure. Renowned historian and author Ernst Reinhold Lasnik has selected the most beautiful and vivid recordings of the individual communities in the Voitsberg district from public and private collections. He documents the changeable history of his home district between 1830 and 1960.
