Synopsis
The Bible is a story of a family of ordinary people collected over millennia from stories that were told and retold, written down, copied and recopied by countless hands, redacted and eventually compiled into a book. A careful examination of the text reveals an underlying purpose and much about who they were. In these pages, you will meet the real Adam and Eve and their descendants. You will board the ark with Noah and his family and relive the great flood. You will join Abraham’s great entourage on his mission to Egypt. You will witness his heirs wrangle over their patrimony and grow into a captive nation. You will follow Moses as he unites his people around their God and leads them to freedom. You will see it all through the lenses of science and of history. Finally, you will meet the real Jesus and get to know God a little better.
About the Author
E. J. (Gene) Schwarz was born under Soviet occupation of Eastern Poland during World War II. His family survived two Nazi concentration camps and several months of forced labor on a farm. An injury combined with starvation disabled him for eighteen months, only regaining the ability to walk near the end of the war. Not wanting to return to communist controlled Poland, the family was placed in a refugee camp in Germany. Four years later, they immigrated to the United States sponsored by a small church in Perry County, Arkansas, then the poorest in the U.S. Moving to Chicago in 1952, his parents found factory jobs and Gene continued his education. He attended Holy Trinity High School, became a self-taught industrial engineer and was employed by two management consulting firms, later starting his own firm. Having lived the American Dream as a U.S. citizen, he is now retired from senior management in international business and management consulting. He has devoted more than forty years to the study of the Bible and History. He and his wife reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he conducts seminars and writes on religion and socio-economic issues. He earned Advanced Catechetical Certification from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Colorado Springs.
