Bible Stories and Religious Classics - A Classic Collection of Sacred Stories, Moral Lessons, and Christian Tradition

A substantial collection of biblical narratives, sacred history, moral instruction, and religious classics, Bible Stories and Religious Classics presents foundational stories of faith in a clear and accessible form for younger readers and family study.

Philip P. Wells gathers and retells stories drawn from Scripture, Christian tradition, and enduring religious literature, shaping them into a volume meant to instruct as well as inspire. The book moves through many of the great figures, events, and lessons of sacred history, presenting moral examples, acts of faith, scenes of trial and deliverance, and reflections on obedience, courage, humility, reverence, and divine providence. Rather than offering a dry outline of doctrine, the collection uses story as its chief method, giving readers memorable lives and episodes through which religious teaching becomes vivid and personal.

First published in the early twentieth century, Bible Stories and Religious Classics belongs to a tradition of devotional and educational reading designed for homes, schools, Sunday schools, and young people's libraries. Its purpose is not merely to summarize biblical material, but to make the moral imagination of Scripture and Christian literature available to readers still forming their understanding of faith, character, and duty. For readers interested in classic religious instruction, Bible story collections, Christian education, and older devotional literature, Wells's volume remains a useful example of how sacred history was taught through narrative, memory, and moral reflection.

Philip P. Wells was an American religious writer and compiler best known for Bible Stories and Religious Classics, a collection intended to make biblical narratives and traditional religious literature accessible to young readers.
