The Biblical Assistant, and Book of Practical Piety, Ed. by D.G. Goyder

The Biblical Assistant, And Book Of Practical Piety, Ed. By D.G. Goyder by David George Goyder. This 19th-century devotional and didactic compilation presents Emanuel Swedenborg's philosophy of Scriptural analogies, or correspondences, arguing that every natural object bears a fixed spiritual meaning and that Scripture is inspired through this internal sense. It then explores heavenly loves, celestial and infernal correspondences, and the symbolism of sun, moon, mountains, and other natural images; it also surveys the three kingdoms of nature and their divine significations. The volume combines theological exposition with practical piety: sermons, prayers, and devotional pieces intended for youth and Sabbath schools, and includes selections on Sacred Poetry and Scriptural Natural History. The work aims to provide a key to interpreting Scripture and to cultivate a life of faith, learning, and moral usefulness.
