A Biblical Response to Open Theism

A growing number of evangelical scholars have recently embraced a new perspective on God?s nature called Open Theism. Open Theism is one of the hottest theological issues in the church and academia today. The writer presents a critique of this view from the standpoint of Christology. Focusing attention on the Gospels, this work examines Christological fulfillment motifs and the theme of Jesus? own foreknowledge of the future, demonstrating God?s precise foreknowledge of future events in the life of Christ. The book aims to prove the weaknesses of Open Theism and to support the biblical teaching of God?s exhaustive knowledge of the future, including the free decisions of moral beings. This book contains ?a survey of the major issues related to Open Theism; ?a critique of Open Theism's hermeneutics in approaching Christology; ?an examination of the fulfillment motifs in Christology; ?a demonstration of the foreknowledge of Jesus in the Gospels; ?a presentation of the theological implications of the Christology of the Gospels for Open Theism. Pastors, laymen, and students alike will benefit greatly from the deeper understanding of God?s foreknowledge they can gain from this book.
