Add to basketThis book is a general guide to cycling based on my as of 2025 eighteen years of cycling, or should I say being back in cycling. I started cycling again on February 3rd 2007 after a fifteen year hiatus and it was definitely one of the best decisions of my life. But cycling has a steep, hard and expensive learning curve. Many of the lessons learnt that I describe here were either hard, expensive, slow or painful lessons to learn, or a combination of those.
This book is intended for both beginner and experienced cyclists and it is intended to make your life as a cyclist, easier, cheaper, safer. It will save you thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands of dollars and years if not decades of time and will dramatically reduce your risk. This book is to show you how cycling can become the ultimate life hack to dramatically improve your life.
This book is both dedicated and written for my three children. I have three children that I had at 44 and 46(twins) and I want them to take up cycling. But if I should die before I can impart my knowledge then this book is essentially a giant letter to them. The way I wrote the book is if I am writing to them. Or as if I am writing to my younger self on February 3rd 2007 or even to my much younger self decades before when I gave up cycling at around nineteen after buying a motorcycle, one of the worst decisions of my life.
If you are reading this and are not a cyclist then I can assure you that if you should take up cycling it will change your life for the better, especially if you know a few tricks and don't fall for the many pitfalls along the way.
Michael Fasher was born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1973 and currently resides in Auckland, New Zealand with his wife and three children. He cycled as a teenager but gave it up then took up road cycling again in 2007.
