About the Author

Doug Shidell started bicycling in 1970 and wrote his first touring guide for bicyclists in 1971. The two activities have been intertwined ever since. He has written three books on bicycle touring in Wisconsin and Minnesota and has researched and published the Twin Cities Bike Map since 1984. Doug is the Ride Guide columnist for Startribune.com, and bicycle columnist for Silent Sports Magazine.
