Big Ben Jones

In 1833, Benjamin "Big Ben" Jones and his friend Moses Hopkins took a risk that would change their lives forever. Enslaved on a Maryland tobacco plantation, they made the daring decision to escape and flee north to Buckingham Mountain in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. There, a community of escaped enslaved people and free Blacks lived under the protection of the Quakers. But to get there, Ben and Moses had to embark on a dangerous journey, relying on and trusting a secret network of brave strangers willing to put themselves at risk to help them.
