Last book in the Billabong series. 262pp. Frontis illustration (b&w print of the jacket illustration). States "First Published 1942" on the copyright page (no other editions or printings mentioned). Blue cloth-covered boards with black lettering to the spine. Slight lean to spine. Pages age-tanned. Edges of the text-block tanned/soiled. Orig owner name and orig bookseller pencil markings to top of front end-paper. Gift inscription to orig owner (dated 1944) to a second blank front end paper. Heavy damp staining to the lower half of the front board, carrying through to the book's first 5 pages (incl the frontis illustration and title page). Water staining also along the top edges of both the front and back boards, and a little to the bottom corner of the back board, though these stains don't carry through to the pages. The jacket has similar staining, though mainly evident to the flaps and jacket verso. The actual jacket front panel shows little evidence of staining. There is a long closed tear across the lower edge of the jacket's front panel, with smaller tears and chipping to the ends of the spine and flap folds. The flaps have splitting along the folds and are quite delicately attached to the jacket proper. The jacket is now protected, and considerably enhanced, by a clear, removable sleeve. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
