Mark S. Schwartz, PhD, began using biofeedback at the Mayo Clinic in 1974. He chaired the Professional Affairs Committee of the Biofeedback Society of America (BSA) during the period in which it developed the first Applications Standards and Guidelines for Biofeedback, published in 1982, and later served as President of the BSA. He also chaired the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) for several years. Dr. Schwartz was on the staff of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1967 to 1988, when he moved to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Currently, he is on the Mayo Clinic Emeritus Staff; has a private practice in Jacksonville, Florida; and is Adjunct Professor at the University of North Florida. He is a Senior Fellow of the BCIA.
Frank Andrasik, PhD, is Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition and Professor of Psychology at the University of West Florida. He began his professional career in the Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Albany. Dr. Andrasik is past president of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the association's journal, Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback. He is a recipient of the AAPB's Merit Award for Long-Term Research and/or Clinical Achievements and the AAPB's Distinguished Scientist Award, and is a Senior Fellow of the BCIA.
