A collection of remarkable and eminent French characters, from the days of the French Revolution to the contemporary date. Being an authentic and impartial character reference for various figures through history. Arranged in alphabetical order, some of the individuals studied include: Madame Adelaide de France, the eldest daughter of Louis XV; Boissy D'Angelas, a barrister in the parliament; J. B. de Cloots, a Prussian baron known as Aracharsis Cloots; J. V. Dumolard, a lawyer at Grenoble; Honore Gabriel-Riquetti Mirabeau, a writer, orator, statesman and a prominent figure of the early stages of the French Revolution, amongst others. In the original half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, worn with loss to the head and tail of the spines. Rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Cracks to the joints and spines with the spine of volume I lifting slightly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with scattered spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers. Good Only.
