Each chapter also gives background information about the issues, a supplemental bibliography presenting diverse views on topics, and a list of questions for readers to consider. Professionals from many disciplines and those with personal concerns are articulate and persuasive, presenting thought-provoking discussions. The editors have done an excellent job in providing material to help readers develop critical thinking skills, become aware of the complexities of each issue, examine their own opinions and assumptions, and respect those with opposing philosophies. Ann E. Weiss's Bioethics (Enslow, 1985) covers many of the same topics but in less depth. Margot C. Mabie's Bioethics and the New Medical Technology (Atheneum, 1993) is a good springboard into meatier presentations such as this one. A useful resource for classroom discussion, reports, and debates.
