Occasional rubbing to edges and corners with a few scuffs, particularly on the back top edge of volume one (pictured) . Volume one with some foxing to page facing title and faint foxing to title page and a few prelims. All of the volumes show this defect though to a lesser degree and are overall relatively clean and tight. ; Half brown leather and marbled paper over boards; spines lettered & ruled in gilt; three raised bands; top edges gilt. Marbled pastedowns and endpapers. Bookplate of J. Leroy Nickel in all volumes. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Gilbert Burnet was a 17th-century Scottish theologian, historian, and bishop. Burnet served as the Bishop of Salisbury in the Church of England and was known for his moderate views and efforts to promote religious tolerance. He also wrote a renowned work titled "A History of the Reformation of the Church of England," which provides valuable insights into the religious and political changes during that period.
