Bishop's Gambit (Revised Edition): The High-Stakes Murder Case: A Deadly Game of Power and Deception

A badge. A ballot box. A bullet.

Two years have passed since the Queen of Hearts case, but for Detective John Bishop, the shadows of the past still cling like a second skin. When the call comes to head the Robbery/Homicide Division in Los Angeles, Bishop trades the coastal fog for the smog-choked heat of a city on the edge.

He isn’t the only one who has moved on. His former Captain has traded her badge for a ballot box, ascending to become the Mayor of Los Angeles. But in the corridors of power, the stakes are higher and the enemies are harder to see.

When a conspiracy of gambling debts and betrayed loyalties reaches from the streets of L.A. to the ruthless mob bosses of Chicago, Bishop is pulled into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. With a fellow officer’s life hanging in the balance and a professional hitman closing in, Bishop must navigate a web of corruption that threatens to topple the city’s new administration.

In a city where everyone is playing a part, Bishop must find the truth before the final piece falls. In the ultimate gambit, checkmate is the only way out.
