Bits and Bridles: Power Tools for Thinking Riders

Bridles and bits are the fundamental means of communication between horse and rider, yet their correct selection and proper use are the least understood aspects of horsemanship and training. This book dispels the myths and provides information about the importance of mouth anatomy in bit selection, proper dentistry and mouth care, selection and use of various bitless bridles, how to teach a horse to accept a bit without fear or resistance, when to change bits, and more. Riders learn all they need to make educated, humane, and logical choices about bit and bridle selection.

Dr. Dwight Bennett specializes in equine internal medicine and lectures widely on equine dentistry and bits and bitting systems. Betsy Lynch is a writer, editor, and communications specialist for the horse industry. Both live in Fort Collins, Colorado.
