Did you check all the "right" boxes and somehow end up unfulfilled?
It’s time to send back the dreams you were sold and customize your life.
Reading the words of author Kelly LaPlante is like having a best friend who just happens to know how to design the life of your dreams. In her cheeky, conversational tone, she shares expert wisdom and real stories about fascinating characters who’ve created extraordinary lives; a couple raising their children at sea; friends exploring ethically non-monogamous relationships; celebrities who’ve designed amazing adventures by breaking molds; and her own journey to completely flip the script on her attachment style.
In Black Sheep Blueprints, you’ll learn to think like a designer so you can:
- Deeply understand yourself and identify what you want
- Gain inspiration, knowledge and tools to design your life
- Playfully and fearlessly try out ideas
- Enjoy the process of going back to the drawing board to revise and refine
The “American Dream” simply doesn’t add up for most people anymore. We’re more open than ever to the idea that a secret menu of life design choices exists. Black Sheep Blueprints teaches how to access it.
Hi there, I'm Kelly LaPlante, a multidisciplinary designer, writer and speaker—and author of the new book Black Sheep Blueprints!
Once upon a time, a million years ago (as my grandmother used to say) I was lucky enough to get be a pioneer in the sustainable design movement. In 2008, I authored the coffee table book Écologique: The Style of Sustainable Design (I think there are still a few copies of that roaming around in the recesses of Amazon!). I was also the founder and editorial director of Standard Magazine and a contributing writer at Houzz.
My design work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Sunset, The New York Times, and Interior Design Magazine— and my client roster includes a motley crew of innovative brands and quirky celebs. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have lived as an adult in San Francisco, Venice Beach, Austin and (very briefly) Amsterdam.
Shortly after completing Black Sheep Blueprints, I moved to Salt Lake City with my son, Stas, so we could be closer to our family. I bought a mixed-use property where we get to live, work, design, play, and dream all in one space (and only have to walk two doors down for excellent coffee).
The next life design unfolds...
