Hi there, I'm Kelly LaPlante, a multidisciplinary designer, writer and speaker—and author of the new book Black Sheep Blueprints!
 
Once upon a time, a million years ago (as my grandmother used to say) I was lucky enough to get be a pioneer in the sustainable design movement. In 2008, I authored the coffee table book Écologique: The Style of Sustainable Design (I think there are still a few copies of that roaming around in the recesses of Amazon!). I was also the founder and editorial director of Standard Magazine and a contributing writer at Houzz.
 
My design work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Sunset, The New York Times, and Interior Design Magazine— and my client roster includes a motley crew of innovative brands and quirky celebs. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have lived as an adult in San Francisco, Venice Beach, Austin and (very briefly) Amsterdam.
 
Shortly after completing Black Sheep Blueprints, I moved to Salt Lake City with my son, Stas, so we could be closer to our family. I bought a mixed-use property where we get to live, work, design, play, and dream all in one space (and only have to walk two doors down for excellent coffee).
