Item description from seller

A detailed 1860s traveller's guide book to Devonshire and Lyme Regis, illustrated throughout and with folding maps. A delightful illustrated traveller's guide to mid nineteenth century Devonshire. One of many popular travel guide book's published by Adam and Charles Black from 1839 to the 1910s, this series was the leading competitor to Baedeker's iconic guide books, with Black's guides tending towards the 'colloquial, with fewer cultural pretensions' than their competitor. With an illustrated frontispiece, three folding maps, and a number of illustrated plates. Collated, complete. With a sixteen page publisher's catalogue to the rear, and contemporary inscription to a front endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Contemporary owner's inscription to front endpaper. Blind stamp to rear free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright. Very Good.
