Octavo. Original red lettered black cloth. 50 illustrations (including frontispiece) from photos. Decorative chapter headings and endings. Three maps including a two page, sketch map and folding map at the end. Text block is tight and overall very clean. Dust wrapper in very nice condition with a couple of small chips and a bit of soiling to the rear panel. Neate S697. Shipton's account of exploring the Karakoram on the north side. Truly a very nice copy of this scarce Shipton title, very scarce in the wonderful pictorial wrapper and especially so in this condition. Ballooning explorer, Steve Fossett's copy with his bookplate on the front pastedown.
