Blood and Water

Adam Heller is dying, but before he can take the big dirt nap, his best friends offer him a chance at immortality and he takes it. Now Adam is a vampire living it up on the wild side and it's everything he could ever want. But the eternal party crashes to a bloody halt when an ancient monster awakens from the dark, forgotten places of the world and comes looking for Adam. The startling reason this monster has come looking for him may be the most horrifying realization of all.

Nothing seems to be going right for Adam. A case of food poisoning gave him hepatitis A, he takes a laundry list of medications, and now doctors tell him he has inoperable cancer of the liver and won’t live long. When best friends Joshua and Nicole hear the bad news, they reveal that they’re vampires and can help him beat his illness by making him a vampire, too. Reborn as undead, Adam has never felt better. Unfortunately, his vampire friends unleashed an ancient evil when they helped him, one hell-bent on finding them and making them dinner. Offbeat characters, dark humor, the story, and the grim realism of the artwork add warped excitement to this welcome departure from the usual trappings of the vampire genre. --Carlos Orellana
