482 pages -plus a fold-out family tree that shows breeding influences. The writer is clearly British as are many of the horses used as examples. Breeding and racing across the Channel in France was always common. Likewise Ireland. As time evolved, bloodlines also moved across the Atlantic to the USA. Author uses race winnings to show the positive effect of good bloodlines. You will read about such fvourites as : War Admiral, Nasrullah, Bahram, Nearco, Never Say Die, Arctic Prince and Nogara. I was tempted to dwell a bit on Vatout, Macip, Alycidon and Call Boy as well. B/W photographs of some of the famous sires (and dams) are given. Discussions on infertility, stayers, Third Remove and laminitis, etc. Cond : Boards are red with gilt lettering - spine only. End-papers are white. D.J. has no graphics but is white and blue with black (and white) lettering. D.J. lightly soiled, About 5 pages have slightly dogged corners. Bookstore stamp on ffep. Beyond that, and some age-yellowing, the entire volume is beautiful. Spine(s) fine. No names, marks, creases, nor tears. Square. Great equine reference ! !
