The Blue Diviners

You can run away from almost anything, except yourself.

Fifteen year old Blink spends his days in an alternate version of Alexandria, Egypt, where the streets are flooded with rank, cold water, and ancient buildings meld with vacant towering skyscrapers. In this metropolis, he navigates the city by rooftop in search of escape while avoiding mechanized war machines.

When a passenger plane nose dives into the heart of the city, Blink’s mentor Boris’ and his shamanic friend Olga call on Blink to rescue the passengers on board. To Blink’s surprise, they’re all alive but in a semi-conscious state. After bringing the passengers to a recovery ward, Olga instructs Blink to lead groups of passengers to a safe zone—and away from the traps of Alexandria. To do this, she teaches him how to use a shimmering powder called dust ember which divines hidden portals throughout the city.

With this new ability, Blink wonders to himself why he can’t just use the magic for himself to escape the city and find his true identity. But escaping the city will be challenging once he comes face to face with a troubled past and unfinished family business.
