Blue Fire Rising: The Hearts of Avelarith

DELUXE COLLECTOR'S EDITION - HARDCOVER with DUST JACKET

The kingdom has survived for a hundred thousand years by keeping its darkest secrets buried.

Thirteen-year-old Lyra Vale has grown up among the floating islands of Avelarith, where dragons cross cloud-filled skies, ancient magic holds entire cities above the world below, and the legendary Bluefire Beast belongs safely to history.

At least, that is what Lyra has always been taught.

Then a forbidden blue flame awakens inside her.

The same magic once wielded by the creature blamed for nearly destroying Avelarith now answers to Lyra-and somewhere beyond the kingdom, ancient chains begin to break.

As forgotten enemies return and the magic supporting Avelarith begins to fail, Lyra is forced to question everything she thought she knew about her family, her kingdom and the stories passed down as truth. The legendary Guardian who supposedly saved Avelarith is hiding secrets of her own, the monster in the history books may not be exactly what he seems, and beneath the castle lies a truth powerful enough to change the kingdom forever.

With her home beginning to fall around her, Lyra must learn to control a power that responds to fear, anger and instinct while deciding who deserves her trust.

Because saving Avelarith may require more than defeating a monster.

It may require discovering who created the story of the monster in the first place.

Blue Fire Rising is the first book in The Hearts of Avelarith, a YA fantasy series filled with floating kingdoms, forbidden magic, ancient secrets, unlikely friendships, winged guardians and a heroine beginning to discover that the truth is rarely as simple as the stories we inherit.
