Blue Hour Homecoming: Finding Life on the Fringes of Reproduction

A birth story you can’t miss.

Alle Mudrick had always wanted to be a mom. But when her first three pregnancies led to loss, she suddenly found herself in a different kind of motherhood, one she called “the twilight zone.” Grieving her reality but intent on creating a family, Alle forged ahead into high-risk pregnancies, untold complications, and the rarest of birth experiences—a journey that would challenge everything she thought she knew about life, death, and love. An intimate and moving memoir set against the wild terrain of New Mexico, Blue Hour Homecoming is one woman’s story of how becoming a mother can look different than what you expected and still be just as life-giving as you always imagined.

"Left me feeling bigger and more alive... I want to give it to every mother I know.”
