About this Item

Original blindstamped dark brown cloth with gilt banner lettering front cover; respined in black half-leather lettered in gilt. 235 pps. plus publisher's ads, with index and appendix being the first collection of laws adopted in the Colony of Massachusetts. Scarce work collecting the original "blue laws" of Connecticut Colony beginning with selections from the 1630s. The records were compiled from both printed and manuscript sources with transcriptions of judicial proceedings from manuscript court records. The author's preface mentions that there was a "long out of print" first editon of the work but we have been unable confirm its existance. A tight copy, generally very good, foxing to the prelims and title page. Bookseller Inventory # D8734
