About the Author

Peggy Rives is a career employee of the National Park Service. After receiving her master's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, she moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Here she developed an abiding love for these mountains and deep respect for the native mountain people, their heritage and their way of life.
