The peak time of ferry routes in New York was around 1929, then there were some 44 different routes in operation. By 1973 only three remained. This work has the purpose of recording what once was, before it has been forgotten and memories have dimmed. On the title page and on page 100 there is a stamp stating that the work is the property of a Historical Nautical Museum. No other markings are present.
