Synopsis
Writing in rhythmic text, author Andria Warmflash Rosenbaum (Trains Don't Sleep) explores the many types of watercraft navigating our lakes, rivers, and oceans, including trawlers, tankers, and cruise ships. Beginning with the sunrise, boats of all shapes and sizes are on their way to a full day. Fishing boats with their nets head out for their day's lucky catch. Tugboats guide a freighter safely into harbor, and pleasure craft such as sailboats and speedboats offer hours of enjoyment for their passengers. Then when night comes, even boats take a rest, including a houseboat that is docked with its family warm and cozy inside. Back matter includes detailed descriptions of each type of watercraft mentioned.
About the Authors
Andria Warmflash Rosenbaum first fell in love with boats while paddling her grandparents’ canoe on Candlewood Lake, in Connecticut. She’s never been on a dragon boat, but she’s been on a submarine! When she’s not writing, she’s walking her dog, taking nature photos, baking, reading, or traveling to visit her grandchildren. Andria lives in northern New Jersey.
Brett Curzon lives in northern New South Wales, Australia, with his wife, three kids, two dogs, and one evil cat. He has always drawn or painted. His career started by exploring the early medium of crayon on the family living room walls. He has diplomas in graphic design and illustration and fine art. He is a member of Illustrators Australia, and the 2018 winner of the Illustrators of Australia and New Zealand Silver Award for product design. Brett’s whimsical art can be seen in many forms, including children’s books, puzzles, water bottles, and clothing. When he is not working away, he can be found in the ocean, or at the very least only a few feet away.
