Self-esteem, the cost of vanity and being-careful-what-you-wish-for are the thematic connective tissue of Body's collection of psychological horror stories. In the vein of The Twilight Zone, each story ends with a shock leaving the reader unsettled: a girl is reduced to skin and bone when she develops bulimia as a result of bullying; a woman's desperate attempts to regain her husband's attention through cosmetic surgery have unexpected results; an unruly man's fascination with boxing consumes his life; and more.
