A Body Of Divinity. To Which Are Adjoined Immanuel. To Which Are Added, The Life Of The Author &C. Reduced From The Original Form Of Question And Answer By H. Robinson — James Ussher. This edition presents a systematic Reformed theology grounded in Scripture, outlining the sum and substance of Christianity and offering a continuous program of catechesis for clergy and educated lay readers. It emphasizes Scripture as the sole authority for faith and practice, explains God’s revealed will and providence, and treats the Spirit’s work as essential to saving knowledge. The work surveys the nature of God, the covenants, sin, and salvation, with careful distinctions between law and gospel, justification by faith, adoption, and sanctification. It discusses the church, sacraments (including infant baptism), church discipline, and ecclesiastical order, and it closes with a robust eschatology. Across its parts, it preserves Ussher’s scholastic method, extensive scriptural citations, and a polemical, doctrine-rich tone intended for serious theological study.
