About the Author
Dr. John Mayfield has been in practice as a chiropractor for well over 40 years. He is a renowned healer who has drawn on ancient and modern healing techniques of various cultures and traditions in his development of a unique system of healing. His desire to become a chiropractor was triggered by seeing his six-year old brother become completely paralyzed after landing on his head on a trampoline. The chiropractor who worked on him performed deep, heroic work. His brother walked out of that chiropractor's office on his own two legs that night. That was when Dr. Mayfield realized that healing people was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. After serving two years as an army medic, Dr. Mayfield earned his doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa in 1972. Dr. Mayfield is renowned for developing gait and ergonomic re-training procedures, healing sprained ligaments, muscles and other soft-tissue injuries. He combines Western medical physiology with core acupuncture knowledge (five element physiology) to heal the subtle energies of the body, and to address the consciousness issues of his patients. He and his wife live in Grass Valley, California.
