The object of this work is to explain the doctrines of Christianity, as embodied in the articles of the church, to excite the attention of readers who would otherwise not be induced to enter into the consideration of these subjects. Focusing on the connection between body and soul, and the way in which the body can serve the soul, this work explores the role of the individual in moral society. With chapters on the town rector, the sick penitent, the liturgy, the unitarian, the fatalist, and more. Previously held in the library of James Stevenson Blackwood, Baron Dufferin and Claneboye, an Anglo-Irish peer and politician. Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Loss of the spine labels with minor loss to the board tips. Small cracks to the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities. Previous owner's bookplate and bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Very Good.
