“Hi,” he said “do you need some help with that swing?” “Yes I do,” she said, shyly looking up at him. The man had stepped out from under a tree when he noticed the young girl was alone on the playground. Rory Chandler, an attorney who seldom refuses cases, has an associate whose friend has been jailed and charged with child molestation. Uncharacteristically, she does not want to take on this case. Rory’s office has been undergoing reconstruction and expansion. Early one morning, she enters the unlit construction area and suffers a serious accident after tripping over a dead man’s body. While recuperating in the hospital she learns that the dead man was on the verge of identifying the child molester. With this revelation and the fact that the accused man was in jail at the time of the murder, Rory changes her mind and decides to take the case. The bogeyman escalates his efforts to find another child to “groom” for his needs. Anyone involved in thwarting him, from news reporters to caseworkers, is a target. As the police close in on him, he resorts to kidnapping, beatings and attempted murder. Rory deliberately puts herself in his sights as she gets the word out that she might have witnessed the murder in her office.

About the Author

Jacquelyn Bishop lives in Media, a charming, small Victorian town within commuting distance of Philadelphia. The Rory Chandler Mysteries, her first three books, are centered in Media. Though her formal training, both at the bachelor and masters levels, is in the Social Services, her life-long dream has been to be an author. She writes first thing in the morning, thus her company name, Early Riser Publishing. Jacki finds that writing is a full-time occupation. She does, however, find time to spend with her grand-daughter, Lilia, awarded twice as a "Young Author" winner. Hiking, Zumba, travel, and cuddling her cats consume her time when not writing.
