Bones and Bonfires: Cremation Rituals at the Annats of Scotland (Culture and Language)

This study suggests strong continuities in language since the Paleolithic, taking the case of Scotland. Using every scrap of available evidence, the author reconstructs the meaning of particular places - Annats. In this way, this painstaking study gives fresh insights into Scottish pre-history.

Sheila McGregor grew up in Scotland and then travelled the world. Marrying a diplomat, she lived in Congo, East Africa and France. She recently returned to Scotland, having completed all 13 volumes of her magnum opus, Culture and Language. Her scholarship leaves no stone unturned.
